I look forward to hearing your arguments/speeches and seeing how you engage with one another. Below are the key factors I prioritize when judging:
1. Confidence & Clarity – Speak with confidence and clarity. Your arguments are only as strong as your ability to communicate them effectively. If I can’t understand you, I can’t evaluate your argument properly.
2. Preparedness – Being well-prepared is crucial. I expect debaters to come in with a solid understanding of their case, strong evidence, and the ability to adapt to the round as it develops. Lack of preparation will be noticeable and may impact your speaker points.
3. Smooth Delivery & Eye Contact – Debaters who maintain a steady, composed delivery and engage with their audience through eye contact will make a stronger impression. Avoid excessive reading and instead aim for a natural, persuasive speaking style.
4. Engagement & Persuasion – Debate is not just about what you say, but how you say it. Strong persuasion, effective rebuttals, and clear organization will go a long way in securing my ballot.
Overall, I reward debaters who are confident, well-prepared, and engaging in their delivery. I look forward to a great debate—good luck!
