I competed in highschool, specifically World schools, Impromptu and PF. Both my parents are debate coaches, so I’ve been around this all of my life.

If I am judging you, here are a few things I look out for and believe it would be good to keep in mind:

Please try not to speed through your cases. I am flowing the argument, and you don’t want to end in a loss because I missed a major point of your case. If you have issues with speeding, remember quality over quantity.
Be kind. This pertains to words, gestures, and so on. I do not tolerate a rude competitor. Your speaks will go down.
Do not lie about what your opponent says. As mentioned before I am flowing everyone’s arguments and cases.
Remember to weigh your arguments!! I will be looking out for this— I find it crucial.
I am big on eye contact. It does not have to be the entire round obviously, but it’s highly appreciated if it’s attempted during the round. Eye contact will get you higher speaks.
Silly bonus points!

If you slide in a reference to a rock/metal band (especially Ghost), you’ll get extra points. Same with Baldur’s gate 3.

I look forward to judging you all, and good luck:)
