Hello competitors. I am a former High School Debate champion from South Florida, earning top spots in the District and Regional level in Original Oratory and LD.

Pacing: Speaking with passion is fantastic, but if you speak rapidly, you are not going to get the point across. Keep things coherent.

Make sure that you enunciate your words and take your time. Be yourself as you speak.

Make sure that you understand the material that you are explaining and be prepared.

Make sure you stand up. It shows a high level of professionalism. Make sure that you also make eye contact with the judge and do not spend most of your time reading from your computer or paper. Also when seated, make sure you sit up straight.

Never argue with the judge about the rules or timing. Come speak to me afterwards if you have a question.
