Dear NSDA Squads and Coaches,

North Kansas City High School speech and debate team would like to invite you and your squad to the North Kansas City Varsity tournament, held in person and synchronously November 19-20, 2021. We will be co-hosting this year with Park Hill South High School where the novice competition will take place. 

NKC will be hosting champ policy debate, regular policy debate, champ Lincoln Douglas debate, regular Lincoln Douglas debate, champ public forum debate and regular public forum debate, and student congress.  We will be a NIETOC bid for US extemp, international extemp, oratory, humorous interpretation, dramatic interpretation, program oral interpretation, duo interpretation, and informative speaking. Storytelling will also be offered under MSHSAA rules.  In an effort to provide maximum opportunities for competition we also ask that each school provide ONE judge Friday and Saturday. We will do our best to not use school judges unless absolutely necessary. 

The deadline for receiving entries on Speechwire.com will be Wednesday November 10th, 2021 at 3:00PM.  We will guarantee 2 entries in each event and then all other entries will be waitlisted upon entry – we will grant what we can accommodate during the day on November 10th/11th. Extra entries will be awarded as available and at the discretion of the host school. Entry numbers granted may be lower than usual due to the need to limit large congregations of students and community judge willingness to volunteer in a pandemic. Entry fees will be 8.00/entry. 

Please note: there will be no formal awards ceremony.  Speech awards will be available for pick-up Friday evening and throughout the day Saturday.  Debate awards will be distributed at the conclusion of each elimination round.
