MDUDL Tournament 4 Policy Debate Tournament

We are thrilled to invite you to the MDUDL Tournament 4 - Policy Debate! This invitational will feature both middle school and high school division competitions in Policy Debate. 

Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.

Tournament Details:

  • Date: December 14, 2024

  • Location: MDC Kendall

    • Building R , Room: R402/40

    • 311011 SW 104 Street, Miami, FL 33176-3393

    • Registration begins at 7:30 AM ET,  Round 1 begins at 8:00 AM ET.

  • Final entries and drops should be completed by December 11, 2024, no later than 12:00 AM ET to avoid penalties - no exceptions.

  • For guest/visiting schools, all payments should be made out to the “Miami Dade Urban Debate League”. Payments will be accepted in the form of cash, check, or money order at the tournament. Please reach out directly for inquiries. 

Competition Format:

  • 3 Rounds of policy debate

  • Middle School Division (Novice)

  • High School Division (Novice and Varsity) 

  • Entry pools may be collapsed depending on registration numbers; however, middle school and high school divisions will remain separate. 

 

Entry Fees for Visiting/Guest Schools:

  • All entries will incur a $50 per student ($100 per team). Students will not need to separately purchase food, as it is covered in their entry fee. Food includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks for debate teams and coaches.

Judge Requirements:

  • Teams must bring one judge for every two entries. 

  • A fee of $100 will be charged for each missing judge to compensate for the absence.

  • Argument Limits: The MDUDL follows strict argument limits - any arguments made outside of the parameters of the provided limits will result in an automatic loss - see limits on our website at https://www.miamiudl.org/resources.
