MISL Novice Tournament
General information This is a College tournament in Michigan. View manager contact information Saturday, September 28, 2024 MISL Novice Virtual Workshop and Tournament & the SVSU Cardinal Swing
SVSU, OCC, and the Michigan Intercollegiate Speech League would like to invite you to our new and improved VIRTUAL MISL Novice Tournament and Workshop, and the SVSU Cardinal Swing on Saturday, September 28th from 9:30 AM to 4:15 PM. This year’s tournament will feature an asynchronous/virtual varsity competition (with select virtual/synchronous finals), a virtual/synchronous novice competition, and virtual workshops for new students.
The tournament will be hosted using Zoom and SpeechWire.com. Students and judges MUST register with SpeechWire.com to participate (details included). The Cardinal Swing begins Tuesday, September 24th and will feature all 11 NFA events. There are no entry restrictions, including double entries, for the Cardinal Swing. The novice competition (Saturday ONLY) will feature 4 events: Prose, DI, Informative, and Impromptu. Students entered in the novice tournament should be new to forensics and/or the event. Students should enter no more than 3 events.
Spectators (prospective students, family, educators) are welcome to attend all or any part of the day.
ELIGIBILITY for the MISL Mini: Anyone who is an undergraduate (has not received a BA or a BS degree) can compete. We are attempting to make this a ‘newer’ student tournament. So, while your students do not need to be novices, they should not be seasoned veterans who have mastered the event. However, if you have an interpretation student who hasn’t tried impromptu yet, have them try it here! If you have a second-year student or a varsity member who has never tried a limited prep event, then this may be the time! (This might include a student who has competed in an event and has not yet made it to a final round.) Entries for the Cardinal Swing will be made on a separate SpeechWire Tournament Page. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you!
