Welcome to the third annual WaterPark tournament hosted at Stillwater MIDDLE SCHOOL (Please note the change from previous years), a tournament co-ran by the teams of Stillwater and Mounds Park Academy on Saturday, January 11th, 2025. We are proud to announce that we are a NIETOC Nationals Bid Tournament for the 2024-2025 season. Let us know if you have any questions on NIETOC, or how the process works! We will offer all 13 MSHSL events plus POI and Impromptu. 

 

The tournament will consist of three rounds and finals. We will offer novice divisions for elimination rounds. We define novices as students in their first year of speech or students in grades 7-9, regardless of experience. All students will compete together in prelims to give new students an opportunity to learn from seasoned speakers. Novices may advance to finals (top 7) or next-in finals (next 7) if they qualify. 

 

Students may double enter in any events, including discussion. Draw students SHOULD NOT double enter in Discussion. Highly seasoned speakers may triple enter. To celebrate students trying new events, we will offer individual sweepstakes for the top five students!

8:25AM - Draw Meeting in Main Forum Room (Second Floor, center of building)

8:30AM - Draw Round 1

8:30AM - Judges Meeting in Media Center

8:45AM - Round 1 (Discussion)

9:00AM - Round 1 (All events except Discussion)

10:00AM - Draw Round 2

10:15AM - Discussion Round 2

10:30AM - Round 2 (All events except Discussion)

11:45AM - Draw Round 3

12:15PM - Round 3 (All events except Discussion)

12:30PM - Round 3 (Discussion)

1:45PM - Draw Finals

2:00PM - Finals All Events (or ASAP)

3:45PM -  Awards

 

Registration and Fees

The cost is $7 per entry.

Our registration deadline is Wednesday January 8th, at 4PM.

We will be site scheduling, so please let us know by 7:45 AM on tournament day if there are any changes. You can report changes to 952-240-3266.

Checks can be made out to Mounds Park Academy Speech Team.

–Ex Reading Selections will be 1-10 (Prose and Poetry)

–Discussion tasks will be from sections 1 and 2 of the outline (Subsection Topics)
