Welcome to the Burnet Invitational!   We have hosted this invitational for 20+ years and we are delighted that you have chosen to compete.  We will host a full speech/academic meet with CX,LD,Prose,Poetry, Interp and all Academic events including hands-on Computer Science.  You will be limited in the number of individuals you may enter into the academic events, that number is CAPPED at 8.  Please do not ask for an exception.

 

We will provide a concessions area for your students with snacks, drinks, etc.  Local food choices include: Whataburger, Storms, McDonalds, Sonic, Burger King, Dominos, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Captain D's, Mojo Coffee, and Starbucks. 

 

A hospitality room for coaches will be provided by our Culinary Arts department and will include breakfast, snacks, and lunch.  

 

Entries are due January 13, 2025.   Drops are due by noon on January 15, 2025 and any drops after that will result in the loss of the entry fee per event dropped.

 

We provide judges for the Journalism, Ready Writing and Literary Criticism events.  Events with essays, ie. Current Issues and Social Studies will be graded by the coaches of those events.

 

If you enter a student in an event, you must provide a grader for that event. Please be cognizant of finish times and report to those grading rooms to help out.  

 

Schools entering the speech/debate tournament will need to provide a judge for events they are entering.  A judges fee of $175 will be assessed for not providing a judge for each event entered.  Numbers of judges per event per competitor are listed in the fees portion.
