Hello, Speech Coaches! Welcome to our 2024 tournament, to be held on Dec. 7, with all details to be hastily put together after Thanksgiving, which is why we don't have a theme yet. But we can pretend to be organized anyway, can't we? We're still accepting theme suggestions. Winner gets a free bagel.

Here is the tentative schedule we will strive to follow! (Key word being "tentative"...) There are FOUR TOTAL PRELIM FLIGHTS with all events competing in three of them.

Other information:

1)  Please get your information entered ASAP to give us a fair estimate of the numbers. Your reply determines how many other schools will be accepted.

2)  Bring a check made out to: Neuqua Valley High School for the following amounts (which have been adjusted from previous years):

Up to 1 entry per event (or 1-14 entries total) - $125 (and 3 judges)
Up to 2 entries per event (15-28) - $175 (and 4 judges)
Up to 3 entries per event (29-42) - $225 (and 5 judges) ***THIS IS THE DEFAULT OPTION (We will give additional entries to schools that offer us the same)***
Up to 4 entries per event (43-56) - $300 (and 6 judges)

Once we're full, we're full, and there will be no additions. If you let us bring our whole team to your tournament, we'll do the same!

3)  Judging needs are listed above.  Bring your own stopwatches.  Radio Speaking judges will need to time their own rounds.  Please make certain your judges know how Impromptu runs. Please make certain your judges know how everything else runs too. Hired judges are available for $90 for the day (but let us know in advance if you need them).  All judges must wait for all finals' assignments to be posted before leaving. Even if there are drops, you are still required to provide the judges from the original confirmed entry. And your judges will be used for every flight. Please pay attention to assignments. You will be responsible for the fee of a judge if you do not bring enough.

4)  Radio and Extemp will prep *ONCE* for the prelims and once again for finals.

5)  Rank alone will be used to advance individuals to finals. Fewer than 6 may be advanced to keep the final round below nine participants.  Judges' preferences will be used to break ties in finals.  Team awards will be given to the top 3 teams in the sweepstakes, based on prelims only for each school's top 2 entries as listed by the head coach.  Head coaches should fill out the rosters on SpeechWire ahead of time.   Neuqua Valley will not compete in the team sweepstakes.  We will make up the rules as we go along. Is anyone still reading this?

6) Lastly, on Friday, Dec. 6, by noon, please confirm final numbers in each event in Speechwire.  I will NOT add entries past that time. Once the tournament is scheduled after Friday's confirmation, rounds will NOT be balanced because of drops. Any drops made past noon will not affect judge numbers. After noon, you are still required to bring the number of judges from original confirmation.

7)  Party in the tab room. Head coaches only, please. BYOB. (B = Bagels)

Best of luck,

Hemant
