Dear Speech Coaches,
The Illinois College Debate & Speech Team would like to invite you to kick off the 24-25 speech season at our IC Early Bird Tournament, to be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, on the Illinois College campus. Our tournament will overlap with IC’s homecoming weekend so you’re definitely going to feel the energy!
The tournament will offer three preliminary rounds and a final round in each event; except extemporaneous and radio speaking, which will have two prelim rounds and a final. Novice finals (for first year competitors) will be held if at least four novice finalists remain after determining varsity finalists. Awards will be given to all varsity and novice finalists, as well as team sweepstakes.
Each school must provide one judge for every six entries or fraction thereof. The number of judges you must bring and the fees you owe are based on the preliminary entry. If you cannot provide enough judges to cover your entry, we can hire judges for you for a fee of $80 each. Student & staff judges will be in short supply. Please make every effort to cover your entries.
Entries are due by Monday, October 21st at 5:00pm. Fees will be assessed Wednesday, October 23rd.
