The Boardman High School Speech & Debate Team invites you and your team to our 2024-2025 Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Boardman High School
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:
Anticipated Logistics:
Speech Events: 4 Rounds
Debate Events: 4 Rounds
Congress: 1 Prelim Scoring Session + Finals
Entries:
Up to 6 entries in all Speech Events (Up to 4 "Varsity", others "JV".)
Up to 6 entries in all Debate Events
Additional entries can be added to the waitlist and will be approved if logistically reasonable.
Per OSDA guidelines, high school entries are to be registered under the team's high school SpeechWire account, and middle school entries are to be registered under their team's middle school SpeechWire account.
Judges: 1 judge for every 5, or majority fraction of 5, Speech entries.
1 judge for 1 or 2 Debate entries.
1 judge per participating school in Congressional Debate.
Youngstown District Judge Considerations:
In Speech Events, a judge must be blocked from judging an event or team in which a relative or someone related to a close family friend competing.
A judge cannot judge Congressional Debate if they have a relative or someone related to a close family friend competing.
Deadlines:
Entries: 8:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Entry fees for drops will be invoiced after this deadline. Additional entries are not guaranteed after this deadline.
Judges: 4:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Efforts to register judges sooner rather than later are appreciated!
Tournament Check-in: Saturday - Tab Room from 7:30 - 8:15 AM.
Fees: $4.00 per student in IE, LD, and Congress. $8.00 per Duo/PF Team.
Please make checks payable to Boardman High School c/o Speech & Debate.
Awards:
Individuals: 1st through 6th place in all events.
Teams: Trophies for 1st through 3rd
Debate Topics:
LD - November/December NSDA topic.
PF - November/December NSDA topic.
Congress - Legislation from the OSDA October/November Docket will be specified.
Food: Food will be available in the cafeteria during the tournament.
Please, do NOT leave the building for food. Youngstown District rules apply.
