Speech Spooktacular

We are super excited to invite you to Buffalo Grove High School’s very first Speech Spooktacular Tournament!
We hope to “take the scary out of Speech” and the "terror out of tournaments" for our Novice and JV newbies. In true Halloween theme, costumes are encouraged so long as they meet the criteria provided below.
As a Novice/JV tournament, we will run three prelim rounds with NO finals. We ask that you refrain from bringing experienced Varsity competitors. Please register by November 2nd, but note that registration will close when we reach the limit of students that we can comfortably accommodate. The sooner you can register, the better!

SCHEDULE:
FEES: There is a base fee of $200 for all teams. PAYMENT: Please make checks payable to Buffalo Grove High School. Buffalo Grove High School 1100 West Dundee Buffalo Grove, IL, 60089
ENTRIES and JUDGES: Please bring 1 judge for every 4 entries until 24 entries, then it is 1 judge for every 5 entries. Each school will be limited to 3 entries per event.
RADIO: Radio speakers should come with a prepared script, commercial included, using news dated between Thursday, November 7th and Friday, November 8th. Students will use this script in all 3 rounds.
EXTEMP: Extemp competitors will prep ONCE at the school and use that speech in all 3 rounds. Standard 30 minute prep according to IHSA Rules Extemp prep starts at 8:00 am - location TBD.
COSTUME CRITERIA: - School appropriate and culturally sensitive (no appropriation!) - Something comfortable and moveable - No event-specific character representations -- DDA, HDA, HI, DI, OC, DEC etc.. - No props during event performances - No fake weapons - No full-face masks
