Wanted to invite you to the Chesterton Debate Tournament on Dec 14, 2024 - this will be a one day tournament.  For those of you from Illinois, Chesterton is located at less than an hour outside of Chicago in Northwest Indiana.  The invite follows this message, please contact me if you have any questions - jcoots@duneland.k12.in.us

Events Offered:
- Lincoln Douglas – Varsity and Novice
- Public Forum – Varsity and Novice 
- Policy Debate – Varsity and Novice (will compete together, awards separate)
- Congressional Debate – Varsity and Novice
- World School Debate – Open Division
-  No Entry Caps
 
Judges
- We are single flighting both LD and PF!  
o This means that we need 1 judge for every 2 entries in LD, PFD, Policy, and World School (or fraction thereof)
o Congressional Debate – 1 judge for every 5 congress entries (or fraction thereof)
- A varsity member who is at least a junior and has over 250 NFL points may judge novice.  Their coach is responsible for the quality of their ballots
 
Meals:
- Full lunch will be available for students to buy; some breakfast and other items will be available throughout the day.  Judges meals will be provided in the lounge
 
Fees:
- $0 per entry
 
Awards:
We will have individual placings through 8th place   
 
Rounds:
- 4 Rounds for PFD and LD 
o 4 Rounds of Policy and World School
o 2 Rounds for Congressional Debate

Registration:

- Final entries are due the Monday of the tournament week (including judges)
- Drops will be accepted without penalty – but it is preferred that they are done as early as possible
Schedule (all times are central):
- 8:15 to 8:30 – Final Registration on-sight
- 9:00 - Round 1
-        3:30 - Final Rounds
-        4:30 - Awards

- LD – NSDA Nov-Dec Topic 
- PFD – NSDA Nov-Dec Topic 
- Policy – NSDA IP Topic.  All restrictions are off for the novice/varsity divisions
- World School Debate – This House believes that censorship is sometimes justified in our society (Rounds 1-3) Impromptu (Round 4)
- Congressional Debate – 
 
FP 5 A Bill to End the Sudanese Displacement Crisis
B/E 5 A Bill to Ban Online Gambling   
B/E 3 A Bill to Invest into Hydrogen Power for Motor Vehicles  
SC 6 A Bill to Increase Funding for Public Transportation    
 
 
Tournament Day Logistics:
Everyone should enter Door 1 at the Front of the School.  Buses can park in the bus lot directly in front of the building or to the North End of the school.
Students should gather in the Cafeteria and return there after rounds.  The judges lounge is in the faculty dining room off of the cafeteria.  Judges should hang out in the judges lounge when not in round just in case we need to find you for substituions.
