Riverside Invitational
General information This is a High School tournament in Nebraska. View manager contact information
Dear Speech Coaches:
You are invited to attend the Riverside Invitational Monday, March 10th, 2025. PLEASE LET US KNOW AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE IF YOUR TEAM IS / IS NOT ATTENDING SO I CAN BE SURE TO HAVE ENOUGH PAID JUDGES. We have a lot of teams interested because we are one of the latest tournaments on the schedule with a late Districts and State schedule, so please help us by covering entries with judges. We do want to note that in the extreme case of us having TOO MANY entries, we may have to cap some events to just 2 entries per team. We hope to not have to do this, but want it noted on the off chance we run out of space for everyone! The meet will begin at 8:00 a.m. with registration beginning at 7:15 a.m. and a coaches / judges meeting at 7:45 a.m. If you have any questions, please send Erin or I an email: mitch.glesinger@riversideps.org or erin.vandewalle@riversideps.org or call Mitch on his cell (308) 370-0789 or Erin at the school's number, which is (308) 358-0640. Please provide a phone number that you can be reached in case of weather cancellation.
Entries & Registration: Each school is allowed three entries per event (this may be adjusted upon request or pending number of entries overall). Students are allowed to triple enter. Deadline for entries is Wednesday, March 5th at NOON.
Events: Competitions will consist of all 10 NSAA events. Two preliminary rounds and finals will be held in all events. Finals will include the top six finalists for individual and group events and there will also be an Honors Finals for the next 6 competitors. Novice and Varsity speakers will compete together, but a top novice award will be given to the top non-finals speaker in each event. All members of a group event must be novice in order to win a top novice award in duet or OID.
Judges: Each school must provide one qualified judge for every six entries (or part thereof). If you are unable to bring judges for all of your entries, you will be assessed a fee of $15 for each uncovered entry. Please limit your entries or fill judge positions if possible.
Fees: The cost of $8 per entry will be assessed, as well as a $15 judging fee for each uncovered entry. We will not refund any fees for drops after March 7th and will not charge for any substitutions. No additions will be allowed after March 5th.
Awards: Medals will be awarded for the first six places in each individual and group event, and a medal will go to the top novice in each event regardless of final placing. A small prize will be given to Honors Finals placings. Plaques will be awarded to the top two teams. Awards will be in the multi-purpose room and hopefully begin around 4:00 p.m.
Homeroom: The multi-purpose room will be used as “homeroom” throughout the day and should be the only gathering place for students. Remember to keep your area clean. We are not responsible for stolen items.
Concessions: There will be a concession stand throughout the day located in the multi-purpose room. A Hospitality Room will be available with breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks provided for coaches, drivers, and administrators throughout the day.
Courtesy: Please remind all students and parents to shut cell phones off. We would appreciate all competitors remaining in speech rounds until all speakers have finished, unless double or triple-entered. Remind students to be courteous audience members to all speakers and to be quiet while in the halls.
Thank you for attending our meet,
Mitch Glesinger, Erin VanDeWalle, and Rachel Keber
