This is a Middle School tournament in Minnesota.

Please join us for the Laporte Wildcat Junior High Speech Tournament, Tuesday, February 11th, 2025 at Laporte School.  This is a tournament for speakers in grades 6-9 featuring all 13 MSHSL competitive events.  The entry fee is $5.00 per speaker (duo counts as one).  Please provide judges at a 1:6 ratio.  Register your team entries by February 2. Deadline for drops without charge is Friday, February 9th at 11:00 a.m.  Drops after that will result in paying the required registration fee of $5.00 per competitor.  Adds must be paid at the time of check in and no adds will be taken that will make competition rounds larger than 6.  Please bring your check for registrations on the day of the tournament, and have your judges prepared. Checks payable to Laporte Speech Team. Thank you!
 
Fees and Registration Online:
Please register your team by Feb. 5. $5 per entry. Drops allowed till 11am Friday, Feb. 10. Drop fee of $5 thereafter. No double-entries allowed. Fees should be made out to "Laporte Speech Team."
 
Registration at event:
On February 11th, registration will begin at 3:00 p.m.
Judges meetign 3:45pm
Draws will begin at 3:45 pm with competition rounds at 4:15pm, 5:30pm, and 6:45 pm.  We will plan to present awards close to 8:15p.m.
 
Draw Events and Discussion:
Storytellers will draw from all of the season selections.  Extemp Readers will draw from all selections in the prose book and the complete poetry book. Storytellers will tell a new story rounds one and two and repeat a story round three. Readers will read a new selection rounds one and two and repeat a selection round three. Discussers will be using the appropriate subject area as recommended for the date by the MSHSL (Subsection topics). Discussion Topic: "Workplace, Workforce, adn the Nature of Work?" Look for a discussion update including the sub topic information prior to the tournament. School wi-fi connection information will be presented to coaches, discussants and speakers at the tournament.
 
Concessions:
Concessions will be available to students and a concession coupon will be provided to coaches, judges, and drivers.
 
Awards: 
Awards will be presented to all speakers who show superior ability.
 
 
Please ensure that your speakers and judges are aware of the rules and etiquette of their categories and competition and that your judges are aware of MSHSL rules, expectations regarding ballots and writing critiques that provide speakers with constructive feedback and suggestions.
 
Assistance from experienced head coaches will be welcome (and required!) in the tab room and ballot drop.
