We are delighted to host the New Prague Trojan Speech Meet on Saturday, March 1st.  We will be offering Novice and Varsity competition in the 13 MSHSL categories as well as Varsity-only Impromptu and Creative Duo.

What is Creative Duo? It’s a lot like regular Duo Interpretation but with these conditions: 1) 5-minute time limit, 2) Entries write their own unique story (solid beginning, middle, and end) with a clear theme and/or conflict their characters face, and 3) The two students performing CAN touch/look at each other.

What is Impromptu? Prompts will be delivered in the room on paper by the judge. Speakers will draw more than one prompt from an envelope and select one prompt to speak on. Speakers have a total of 7 minutes to decide on their prompt, prep, and deliver their speeches. The judge will start timing a speaker when the speaker chooses which prompt to speak on. 

Costs: $7/entry, $10.50/entry for Duo and Creative Duo. $15 base entry fee. $7/entry drop fee begins February 27th. $100 fine for every uncovered judge (1 judge needed for every 6 entries). Limits: Due to limited space in our building, we are limiting the entire tournament to a 335 cap, if we get there - first come, first serve. Also due to space limits, Double-Entries need to be limited to the following conditions: No triple entries, no double-entries with Discussion, no double-entries in more than one draw category, and no double-entries of a draw category with Creative Duo.  

Tasks: Extemp. Reading will be using ALL prose and poetry selections. In all draw events, students will not be able to repeat topics or stories from previous rounds. Discussion tasks will come from Areas III (Governmental Interests) and IV (International Interests), as detailed in the outline provided by MSHSL. 

We will be using a LIVE DOC to communicate with competitors and judges. This will be emailed out the week of the tournament.
