Dear Colleagues, 

You are invited to the 6th annual Ocelotl tournament. We will host Congress on Friday, February 7th and Speech & Debate Events on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Rocky Mountain Prep - SMART

Tournament Structure 

Our hope is that the tournament will provide additional practice opportunities for your team as we approach CHSAA State and Nat Quals. 

Congress: Has now moved to FRIDAY. We will run Congress from 4:15-7:45pm with a dinner break.

Speech: We will run four prelim rounds and then break to finals. Any event with 20 or more entries will have a Finals and a Next-In Finals to break 12 students to a fifth round. 

PF & LD: We will run three prelim rounds. Any entry that has at least 2 wins will get a fourth round. After the fourth round, all debate entries with at least 3 wins will get a fifth round.

Events: HI, DI, POI, Poetry, Duo, INF, OO, EXT, Impromptu, Congress, LD, & PF

Internet: We will use electronic ballots, so please have judges bring an electronic device! Internet will be available for all participants. 

Judges & Fees: 

-1 judge for every 6 speech entries

-1 judge for every 2 debate entries 

-$10 per event, $20 per Duo and PF

Doubling: PF and LD entries should not double enter. Students can compete in Congress on Friday and then speech or debate events on Saturday. Beyond that it is whatever your student can handle. 

Site: The tournament will be held at Rocky Mountain Prep - SMART, 3201 W Arizona Ave, Denver, CO 80219. PLEASE DON’T JUST GOOGLE “Rocky Mountain Prep”!!!!! 

NIETOC: We are proud to be bid tournament to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC), also known as the Speech Tournament of Champions. Bids can be earned in the following events: HI, DI, Duo, POI, OO, INF, and Extemp. Please go to www.NIETOC.com for more information.
