Dear Coaches,
The Golden Speech and Debate Team in partnership with the Mullen Speech and Debate Team  invites you to attend and participate in the 63rd Colorado’s Oldest Tournament. Registration can be found on Speechwire.com.

EXTEMP DEBATE RESOLUTIONS:
ROUND 1 - Resolved that the United States embargo on Cuba ought to be lifted.

Round 2 - Resolved that the United States should control the Panama Canal

Round 3 - Resolved that the United States ought to build a National High Speed Rail system.

Finals - Resolved that standardized testing in public schools should be abolished

Events offered:
INTERPS: Drama, Duo, Humor, Poetry, POI
SPEECH: Impromptu, International Extemp, US Extemp, Informative, Original Oratory
DEBATE: Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, CX, JV CX (if we have at least 4 teams)

JV CX:  If we have at least 4 teams, we will run a JV CX division.  The normal limitations will apply:  no kritiks, no counterplans, and cases limitations to the four areas defined by NFHS.

Entry Limitations: Four entries per school are allowed in each event. We will accommodate additional entries if judges are provided for entries and we have room. Thank you for helping us run a timely tournament for all!

Doubling Rules:
LD debaters may double-enter in extemporaneous debate as they will be in opposite waves. PF unfortunately will not be able to double into extemp debate.
Students in events may double-enter in two events. Students are responsible for making it to their rounds. Students must pay attention to the schedule because we may not be using a full wave system- some events will occur in the same time period.
Students can only enter one Extemp event. Extempers that double-enter risk losing part of their prep time

Debate Topics: January NSDA resolutions will be used for Public Forum, Lincoln Douglas, and Policy Debates.

Extemp Topics:
DX
1- Healthcare
2 - Economy
3 - Education
Finals - Politics

IX
1- International Space Exploration & Development
2- Global Economy
3- International Conflicts & War
Finals- Geopolitical & Global Governance Challenges

Internet: Guest Wifi is available through Golden High School. This tournament will run using online ballots, so remind your judges and your students that WiFi will be available, and they should plan on bringing a device capable of making an internet connection.  We will use the NSDA rules for internet use. Please remind your competitors that WiFi is not guaranteed and backup physical copies are suggested.

Rules: We will abide by CHSAA rules and rankings for speech and debate events.

Fees: Entry fees are $10 per competitor.

*We never want financial difficulties to be a barrier to entry. Please contact the tournament directors to discuss cost.

Doubling: All competitors may enter up to two non-debate events, but Exempers will risk losing prep time.

Judging and Registration: All teams will be expected to provide judges that cover all their entries. 1 speech judge covers 5 entries, 1 debate judge covers 2 debate entries. The tournament would like to have a single wave schedule, so please provide adequate coverage.

We look forward to hosting you at Golden High School!
