LOGANSPORT HIGH SCHOOL is pleased to invite you to attend the Welcome to Winter Holiday Invitational on Saturday, December 14, 2024. 

TEAM REGISTRATION: The deadline for the registration form is Monday, December 9, by 3:30 pm. I will send a final confirmation after all entries have been received. Please bring your $25 team entry fee with you to the tournament. This helps defray the cost of Speechwhire. Thank you for your understanding.

SCHEDULE: 

• We will offer 3 rounds and a final

• Registration begins at 7:30am. 

• Extemp prep and Discussion Round 1 will begin at 8:00am

• All other events will begin at 8:30am.

• Extemp will draw for 1st and 3rd rounds.

EVENTS: The tournament will offer all IHSFA events: Drama, Humor, Duo, Poetry, Prose, Original Performance, Original Oratory, Extemporaneous (combined), Impromptu, Broadcasting, Discussion, Declamation, Informative and Programmed Oral Interp. 

RULES: Teams may enter a maximum of 30 entries with a limit of 6 students in each event. Additional non-sweeps entries will not be accepted. Teams may NOT enter a second non-sweeps team. Tournament will be capped at 300 entries. Duo partners may double in other duo events.  NO tripling. Contestants may double with these exceptions: Discussion and Extemp may NOT double with each other. Rounds will not be re-run if a student misses a round and did not communicate with the judge prior to doubling.

BROADCASTING:

• Round 1: News program (music genres/artists and commercial materials posted on Speechwire on Monday, December 9): 5 min. target performance

• Round 2: News program from round 1

• Round 3: News program from round 1

• Final: Editorial written at the tournament.

DISCUSSION artifacts and Radio info posted as of Monday, December 9. 

JUDGES: Each team will provide 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof. That means 6 entries = 2 judges.

CONCESSIONS: Food and beverages will be available throughout the tournament from 7:30am-1:00pm. We are excited to announce that our school coffee shop, the Berry Bean, will be open as well! Additionally, we will serve judges, coaches and drivers in our courtesy lounge adjacent to the Berry Bean. The cafeteria will have pizza, tacos and assorted snacks for purchase for students. CASH ONLY purchases, please.

AWARDS: The top six places in each event will receive ribbons and earn sweepstakes points, 6 down. We will offer 5 team trophies.

ESTIMATED TIME OF AWARDS: 2:00pm. With your help, we will run a timely awards session and get you home as soon as we can.

PARKING AND ENTRANCE:                                       

Please park on the north side of the school.  Your team may enter the building using Door 5. Registration will take place in the Library.
