2025 Viking Voice
 
The Northwest Speech Team would like to invite you to the 2025 Viking Voice Speech Tournament on February 22nd at Northwest High School.  In addition, Northwest is once again a qualifying tournament for NIETOC.  The NIETOC Qualifying events are Humorous, Dramatic/Serious, POI, Duet Acting, Informative, Extemp and Persuasive(Oratory) and other supplemental events.   Check out http://nietoc.com/faq/ for more information on qualifying.
 
EVENTS  
Our tournament is an open competition, offering all ten NSAA Events.
 
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Format and rules will be the same as NSAA Districts except for ties.  Tie-Breaking will include the new introduced format (strength of schedule). We will have two rounds of preliminary competition and finals for Champs and Honors. Top 6 in each entry will go to Champs Finals. Next 6 will go to Honors Finals.  Finals for OID will have 4 in Champs, 4 in Honors and 4 in Merit.
 
PAPER BALLOTS
We will use paper ballots.  RFD's will be required to be completed before turning in.
 
AWARDS
We will only have a VARSITY Division.  Medals for the top 12 places.  Top 6 in Champs and Top 6 in Honors.  We will also give some surprise placings.
 
TEAM AWARDS
We will award plaques to the top two teams in Sweepstakes
 
PARKING: 
Use the main parking lot.  Come through the main entrance.  You will find the cafeteria immediately to your right as you enter.  This is the home
 
SCHEDULE
Start time will try to remain at 9am. However, we will run on time and keep things on schedule to get everyone home at a good time.  Sections will be small enough to allow judges time to comlete quality ballots.

8:00 AM - Registration

8:40 AM - Drop and Add Meeting

9:00 AM - Round 1A
Round 1: ENT, OID, HP, POE, PER

9:15 AM - Extemp Draw Round 1
Prep: ES

10:15 AM - Round 1B
Round 1: DA, ES, INF, SP, POI

11:30 AM - Round 2A
Round 2: ENT, OID, HP, POE, PER

11:45 AM - Extemp Draw - Round 2
Prep: ES

12:45 PM - Round 2B
Round 2: DA, ES, INF, SP, POI

2:00 PM - Finals A
Final round: ENT, OID, HP, POE, PER
Prep: ES

3:00 PM - Extemp Finals
Final round: ES

3:15 PM - Finals B
Final round: DA, INF, SP, POI

4:15 PM - Awards

 
ENTRY DUE DATE
Entries are due by Sunday Febrary 16, 2025
Adds and Changes are allowed until Wednesday Feb 19th at 4:00PM
All Drops after Wednesday will not change Invoice Total
 
FOOD
There will be a concession stand in the cafeteria running all day.  
 
FEES
Entry Fees are $8 per event.  Each school is responsible for providing one qualified judge for every six entries.  Entries not covered by a judge will incur a $20 judging fee. .  
 
EXTEMP
Extemp draw and prep will be in the library.  We have a Public WiFi that will be available to contestants. 1 Hour Prep Time.
 
COACHES
Please tell your kids to be respectful of our classrooms.  DO NOT touch things in the classroom that should not be touched.  Respect our staff spaces and belongings.  Please provide your own duet tables and chairs.  If you need to borrow, ask.  DO NOT REMOVE CHAIRS/TABLES FROM OTHER CLASSROOMS.
