General information This is a High School tournament in Indiana. View manager contact information PARK TUDOR INVITATIONAL DEBATE TOURNAMENT SATURDAY January 11, 2025 (ENTRY DUE BY January 8th, 6pm) Welcome Coaches and Debaters!
We are running 4 debate events: LD, PF, CX, and World Schools (so everything except Congress).
We have limited space (40 rooms total) but really wanted to provide an opportunity for Indianapolis-area debaters to practice in the 1-2 weeks before NSDA Districts and State.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Please have entries up on Speechwire by 6pm Wednesday, January 8th.
EVENTS & FORMAT: 4 rounds of LD, PF, and CX
LD RESOLUTION: Resolved: The United States ought to become party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
(Please note that this is the resolution that the Indiana State Tournament is using at State. It is a MODIFIED version of the NSDA resolution for Jan/Feb. that cuts out the half related to the Rome Statute)
PF: Resolved: The African Union should grant diplomatic recognition to the Republic of Somaliland as an independent state.
CX: Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.
WORLD SCHOOLS: 3 rounds: Rounds 1&2 will run the prepared topic (resolution TBA); Round#3 will be the impromptu round.
*IHSFA rules apply to all events; All rounds will use e-ballots so make sure debaters and judges have Speechwire accounts in advance of Saturday morning.
*Ribbons for top 8 finalists
TIMING
Registration in Upper School lobby from 7:15-8:00; students hang out in Wood Room
7:45 Judges Meeting (probably in Lecture Hall).
* Awards ceremony around 2:30pm in Wood Room
ENTRIES: 5 entry cap per event, per school (so 20 entries maximum); We have a total entry limit for 80 for the whole tournament so we've sent out email invites on a rolling basis to Indy-area schools. Any entries after the limit is reached may be put on a waitlist. Several schools were sent official invite emails from SW so we could control the entry numbers (we only have 40 rooms and an entry cap at 80). If you are out of the Indy area and/or did not receive an invite but have some students that would like to attend, we might still have space- if this applies to you and SW will not let you register without an invite, email Matt McGrath at mmcgrath@parktudor.org, as we might still ahve space.
JUDGES: One judge for every three entries (4 entries = 2 judges)
FOOD: Food will be available for purchase for breakfast and pizza for Lunch- please bring CASH for all concessions. All proceeds from concession sales fund our ability to provide ribbons and/or awards.
PARKING & DIRECTIONS: Visitors may park in any student lot and make their way to lobby of the Upper School Building. PT's campus is on a bit of a hill with a quad in the middle. The US building is the largest building and is on the West side of campus.
