Minden Whippet Invitational

This letter should answer all of your questions about the contest. We look forward to seeing you on February 15, 2025.
Minden High “WHIPPET” INVITATIONAL SPEECH TOURNAMENT SATURDAY, February 15, 2025 Minden High School & CL Jones Middle School (Our two schools are CONNECTED!)
Entries: Contestants are allowed to triple enter, but please keep in mind students will be on a tight schedule. We will run all ten NSAA events.
Registration: Deadline for entries is SUNDAY, FEB 9. Drops will be accepted until noon THURSDAY, Feb 13th; however, drops after WEDNESDAY, February 12th will NOT reduce your entry fee. The day of the tournament drops need to be emailed by 7am to jeffrey.horner@mindenwhippets.org. Competition will begin at 8:00am.
We will run two preliminary rounds plus champ and honor finals in varsity and champ finals in novice. (NO FINALS IN ANY EVENT WITH LESS THAN 15 ENTRIES) NOVICE FINALS WILL HAVE ONE JUDGE. VARSITY FINALS WILL HAVE TWO JUDGES. Preliminary round ties will be broken by rank and then rating points.
Judges: Each school must provide one judge for every six entries. If you are unable to bring judges for all of you entries, pay $75.00 for uncovered entries. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE JUDGES YOU INTEND TO BRING TO THE MEET—IF YOU DO NOT ARRIVE WITH THE NUMBER OF JUDGES THAT YOU SPECIFIED IN YOUR ENTRY, YOU WILL BE BILLED ACCORDINGLY.
Fees: Entry fees will be $7.50 per events. We will not refund any fees for drops or charge for any substitutes. We will not accept any adds the day of the tournament.
Medals will be awarded for the first through twelfth place in each individual event and first through tenth place in group events in varsity, and first through eighth place in each individual event and first through sixth place in each group event in novice.
We will also give plaques to the top and runner-up team in both novice and varsity divisions!
Homeroom: No competition has been scheduled in the high school gymnasium. The gym will be used as ‘homeroom’ throughout the day. Please no music in the gym area.
