General information This is a High School tournament in Florida. View manager contact information SFCFL 1 | February 1, 2025 HOST: Miami Palmetto HS The SFCFL Speech & Debate world invites you to the 1st SFCFL tournament on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Remember, you must be a paid member of SFCFL to attend this tournament. Additionally, any student who wishes to compete at the Grand Final Tournament in March must attend one complete SFCFL tournament. EVENTS: Public Forum Debate, Lincoln Douglas Debate, Varsity & Novice Congress, Extemporaneous Speaking, Program Oral Interpretation, Original Oratory, Dramatic Performance, Informative Speaking, Declamation, Duo Interpretation, After Dinner Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, World Schools Debate ENTRY LIMIT: 8 entries in each category. DOUBLE ENTRY IS ALLOWED IN SPEECH EVENTS. STUDENT ENTRY FEE: $25.00 per student payable to SFCFL. JUDGE REQUIREMENTS: 1 judge for every 5 IE (including Congress), and 1 judge for every 2 debaters or fraction thereof, but you cannot mix PFD or LD judges. Please make certain you have the correct number of judges. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Enter online at www.speechwire.com. Entries will be accepted through Tuesday January 28, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Changes and drops may be made until Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., but you will be charged the entry fee for any student originally entered. The web site will be closed Wednesday afternoon. MEALS: All student and judge/coach entries will be provided one meal. Please make the meal selections, including noting all gluten free options on Speechwire. It is the responsibility of the coach to ensure all meal numbers are correct. Additions or changes at the tournament will not be accepted. All coaches should add a meal for themselves even if they are not judging. Judge and/or Coach Meals will cost $12.00 a meal. The student meal is included in the entry fee. TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE: Registration will take place between 7:15-7:45 a.m. in the Media Center. Please make sure to check in at this time or we will have to drop the team. We will offer 5 rounds of competition in all events, 3 sessions and a final session of Congressional Debate and 4 rounds of competition in World Schools Debate. LINCOLN DOUGLAS DEBATE: Resolved: The United States ought to become party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and/or the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
