The Wayne High School Speech & Debate Debate proudly welcomes you to our first hosted tournament – the Wayne Train Classic – on Saturday, January 18th, 2025!

 

We are excited to run a full day of events:

5 rounds of Debate

4 rounds of Speech

2 Prelims + 1 Final round of Congress

 

Congress legislation will include all pieces assigned for 1/18, with two additional pieces: one from 1/4 and one from 1/11. See below for the specific lists and allocations:

Prelims

– J25-13 (A Resolution to Mobilize U.N. Troops)

– J25-14 (A Resolution to Amend the Constitution to Remove the Natural Born Citizen Clause)

– J25-15 (A Bill to Purchase Greenland from Denmark)

– J25-16 (A Bill to Prohibit the Trial of Children as Adults in Court)

– J25-18 (A Bill to Abolish the ATF)

Finals

– J25-04 (A Bill to Eliminate the Gender Wage Gap)

– J25-10 (A Bill to Ban the Privatization of Municipal Water Systems)

– J25-17 (A Bill to Require a Cognitive Test for All Presidential Candidates)

 

We hope to maintain a smooth event to ensure a consistent schedule throughout the day. Registration will begin at 7:00am, Judges Training will begin at 8:00am, and most competitive rounds will begin between 8:30 and 9:00am. Space may become limited, so be sure to register as soon as you are able to do so.

 

More specific details will be shared as we near the event (food, parking, etc.). However, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions beforehand!
