Added information about the Speech Meet
AWARDS: Medals will be for the top 3 finishers. Certificates for 4th-10th places.  Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.
ENTRIES AND ENTRY CAPS: Each event is capped at 10 entries. If you have more than 10 entries for an event, your entries will be put on a waitlist via SpeechWire, and we will try to accommodate them as space allows.
--Competitors may triple enter, but know this could make for a very busy day for your competitors.  Extemp speakers will have difficulty being triple-entered, so please take this into consideration.
JUDGES: PLEASE BRING 1 QUALIFIED JUDGE FOR EVERY SIX ENTRIES. Judges may be qualified high school students.  However, I ask you to train any high school students who are judging to give positive and constructive feedback.  If you use parent judges, please ensure they are trained on the events we are offering and that they have a good eye/ear for judging. I am also providing a rubric/checklist for our newer judges to help provide some quality, positive feedback.  Judges are welcome to use this guide but are not required to use it.

EXTEMP PREP: We will allow computers in extemp prep. We will also allow open internet. I will email out the topics on April 1st.

Concessions: Students will have access to a general concession stand.  We will be fairly limited in options, but there will be things like chips, snacks, drinks for sale, and there will be slices of pizza and/or sandwiches for sale as well.

PARENTS and Guests: We love seeing people in the audience, so parents, families, and bus drivers are welcome!  We will have a table at the front door where spectators can get a list of speakers and their schedules broken down by school teams.

INFORMATION ON EVENTS:

Extemporaneous “Light”:  Time limit: 2-6 minutes with a 30 second grace period in either direction. Topics will be generalized and very friendly to students who are new to Extemp.  For example, a possible topic could be: How do sports and activities benefit students?  Another example might be: Should taking PE be mandatory?  There will be 40-50 topics, and students will have full use of the internet.  Students will have a one hour prep time.
Duet Acting:  An original cutting from a humorous or serious play acted out by two individuals. Touching and use of a table and two chairs are allowed. The script is optional. Time limit: 12 minutes with a 30 second grace period.
Children's Literature: How well can you interpret a children's story?  Can you do it better than anyone else?  You will be given the story the Wednesday before the meet.  Your job, read it, internalize it, and then on Saturday, retell it with as much flare as a professional story-teller.
Remaining Events: Will run as NSAA events run.

Entries will only be accepted through Speechwire.com.
