Fees: Each individual entry is 15$, with team events (duo/pf/cx) costing 30$

Events

Students may enter multiple events (up to 3 if one is Congress). There is no doubling in Debate events or in both Extemps. Students may enter two team events (e.g. CX and Duo) provided both teams have the same partners and have completed SELI Forms correctly. Events offered:

Speech - Humor, Oratory, US Extemp, International Extemp, Informative, Drama, Duo, POI

Debate - Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum, Policy, BQ

LD - Resolved: The development of Artificial General Intelligence is immoral.

PF - Resolved: In the United States, the benefits of the use of generative artificial intelligence in education outweigh the harms.

CX - Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.

BQ - Resolved: Creativity is a more powerful force than intelligence.

General Rules

Please explore and examine the current High School Unified Manual.

If you have any questions about rules for the District Tournament, please let us know!

PUBLIC VIEWING:

All rounds at the District tournament are open to spectators. Spectators may include family members, coaches, competitors in other events, competitors in the same event that are not competing at that time, and judges in any event. Spectators are required to maintain polite and professional behavior the entire round.

AUDIT PROCESS:

Primary results of each round (win/loss or rank) will be released to the advisor or a coach representative from each school in attendance after the conclusion of each round. The coach representative is responsible for reviewing results in a timely manner and alerting the District Committee to any potential errors or violation of the audit procedure. All results will be posted DIGITALLY on Tabroom.com.

Judges

All teams will be asked to provide judges for the tournament. We ask that judges covering a team’s obligation be entered on Tabroom and ALSO on the RMN Judge Sign Up 2025.

1-7 entries* = 2 full time judge that can do most all of the events and commits to a minimum of 10 time slots in which there are events actually running. This does not mean that they will get ten rounds - we just need the flexibility of assigning the slots.

8-14* = 4 full time judges that can do most all of the events and each commit to a minimum of 10 time slots in which there are events actually running. This does not mean that they will get ten rounds - we just need the flexibility of assigning the slots.

15-21* = 6 full time judges that can do most all of the events and each commits to a minimum of 10 time slots in which there are events actually running. This does not mean that they will get ten rounds - we just need the flexibility of assigning the slots.

Judges that are fulfilling school obligations need to be available to judge a variety of events and be available for the duration of the tournament. All Judges (Including Coaches) will be paid 15$ per round, 30$ for a session of Congress/Double Flight of Debate.

Qualifiers
