The George Mason University and James Madison University Forensics Teams cordially invite you and your students to attend the 2019 Virginia is for Lovers Fall Swing, October 5-6, 2019. Both tournaments will take place in Fairfax, VA on the campus of George Mason University. We will offer all 11 AFA events at both halves of the swing. What follows is information that should make your trip to the swing easier to plan:

ENTRY INFORMATION
1. There is no limit on team entries in any event.
2. Students may enter a maximum of 3 events per bracket; 2 duos count as 2 events.
3. The deadline for entry is Tuesday, October 1nd at 5pm eastern.
4. Entry fees are $8 per event slot.
5. Please provide a qualified judge for every individual event.
6. Hired judges are available at $15 per uncovered slot.
7. Drop fees are original entry fee plus $10 penalty after entry deadline plus $20 if on Saturday or Sunday.
8. Dropped judges after the entry deadline will each be assessed a $100 fee in addition to standard judge fees.
9. To register for BOTH the George Mason portion and the James Madison portion, please go to www.speechwire.com, scroll down to “VA is for Lovers-Fall GMU” and “VA is for Lovers-Fall JMU,” request a password (if you don’t already have one) and submit your entry SEPARATELY FOR EACH HALF. You should receive by email your password information and can then enter your students and judges at the Speechwire website. You will receive a confirmation email detailing EACH HALF OF your entry at 6pm eastern on 10/1/2019. Please be sure to check the entries you submitted and immediately correct any errors directly at the Speechwire website.
COMPETITION AND AWARDS
1. Both tournaments will offer 2 rounds of preliminary competition and a final round.
2. Any event with more than 50 entries competing in both preliminary rounds will feature a semifinal round.
3. We will offer an award for the top six entries in each individual event (two awards for duos).
4. The top five individual sweeps winners will each receive an award (students must be entered in four events to be eligible).
5. The top five schools will each receive an award.
6. A swing sweepstakes award will be presented to the top overall student sweeps winner for both halves and the top overall school sweeps winner for both halves.
7. We will use AFA-style rules and tabulation.
