River Falls Take the Leap Speech Tournament
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Wisconsin. View manager contact information Dear Speech Coach,
The River Falls Forensic coaches and team are pleased to invite you to our first ever tournament on February the 29th, 2020. We aim to provide a fun tournament with high-quality competition.
With this tournament, we hope to foster participation from both WHSFA and WFCA involved schools. Both sets of rules will be allowable by competitors and students are allowed up to three entries. We want to pay respect for each by trying to foster a connection between the two associations.
Leap day is an extra 24 hours bestowed upon us every four years. We want to celebrate it! Keeping that spirit in mind, we are encouraging students to take risks: try a new category, add something different to your piece, talk to someone new. Leap Day is an extra day to try something new with absolutely no regrets!
The tournament will include three preliminary rounds with a final round for those categories big enough to support the need for one. Categories offered will include all of the WFCA (Public Address competitors should register under Oratory) as well as Oratorical Declamation for grades 9/10 (NCFL Rules will be followed). After finals, students and coaches will gather in the Doris Fuka Auditorium for awards. The following awards will be presented:
Entry fees will be as follows: $8.00 for single entries and $12.00 for group entries. We ask that you bring one judge per 5 entries with no more than 5 total affiliated judges per schools. Any entry not covered by a judge will be billed a $20 fee.
Teams will be able to manage their registrations on speechwire with a deadline for adds on Friday, February 21st at 4:00 pm. Please contact us after this time for any additions, drops, or general modifications to your team’s roster. Any drops after Wednesday, February 26th will still be charged and your judge requirements will remain the same. The school map will be available on speechwire sometime before the tournament. Please disseminate this to your students before the tournament digitally for their use. Please find a tentative schedule on the following page.
Lunch will be provided for judges and coaches. Concessions will be available for students to purchase in the commons. We aim to provide delicious and nutritious food for all!
We hope to see you on the 29th to celebrate leap day and speech!
