National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (CANCELED)
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Texas. View manager contact information March 12, 2020 Dear NIETOC family: We deeply regret to inform you that the Executive Committee has voted to cancel our 2020 NIETOC event in Houston, TX. The National Individual Events Tournament of Champions was founded on a mission of renewal for students and coaches, a focus that has driven every decision made by the organization. Based on the available information and projections concerning the potential spread of COVID-19, coupled with decisions that have been made by individual school districts, local and national educational organizations, state activities associations, and local/state governmental agencies, we feel this, although painful, is the best decision. This is an unprecedented situation and because there is so much that we do not know about this virus, canceling the tournament is the safest option for everyone. It is the position of the NIETOC Board that our proactive decision will alleviate concerns about the tournament so that schools and students and families can focus on best practices in their respective communities to prevent the continuing spread of the virus. We are pleased to announce that J. Frank Dobie HS and our tournament hotel have agreed to host us on May 7-9, 2021. Although we are heartbroken for the seniors who will lose out on this culminating activity, we would like you to know that all underclassmen who qualified this year via the automatic or bid-level options are already qualified for the 2021 tournament in the same event(s). More details about this will be made available at a later date. Some logistical details:
The NIETOC Executive Committee thanks you for understanding our need to cancel this year’s tournament and hopes for the healthiest outcome possible for all of our schools and students. We look forward to seeing you in Houston in 2021! Sincerely, The NIETOC Executive Committee

This is also true of any students who finish in the top three at this year’s state tournament in one of our main events. Each school is provided the opportunity to bring two "bonus" Duet Acting entries, and may be eligible for one bonus entry in POI.
