National HBCU Speech and Debate Championship
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a College tournament in Texas. View manager contact information The National HBCU Speech and Debate League is proud to invite you to the 2020 National HBCU Speech and Debate Championship on February 28, 29, and March 1, 2020. This tournament represents an opportunity for HBCU students to compete against their peers. In addition, this is an opportunity for represented schools to come together and maintain a forensics organization for HBCUs. The organization we have created has oversight of this tournament and also seek to spread speech and debate education and competition to HBCUs all over the country. The skills that are learned in speech and debate are valuable tools for students in the classroom and beyond the walls of their alma mater. For this reason, this newly formed organization will seek to promote forensics education in all HBCUs. The tournament will feature IPDA Debate, NPDA Debate, and ten of the American Forensics Association Individual Events; this tournament will also feature Slam Poetry and Interviewing events. We would like to thank the Charles Koch Foundation, the Nate Parker Foundation, and the administration of Prairie View A&M University. All of these organizations should be commended for their commitment to this endeavor. This tournament, through the sponsorship of all of these organizations, will be presented with no entry fees, which includes a free awards banquet. Finalists in all events will receive trophies. Sweepstakes trophies for Individual Events and Overall will also be awarded. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are very excited about this tournament and look forward to hosting this event. Respectfully,
