PARKING INSTRUCTIONS FOR 2024 GMV DISTRICT TOURNAMENT AT OAKWOOD HIGH SCHOOL
Oakwood Junior & Senior or High School (OHS) is located at
1200 Far Hills Ave, Oakwood, OH 45419
(Far Hills is also State Route 48)
OHS faces Far Hills Avenue but must be accessed from East Schantz Avenue on the EAST side of the building. OHS has very little off-street parking available but there are many side streets with free parking.
BUSES
Bus drivers should turn east off Far Hills onto Spirea Drive just north of OHS, drive one block, and, then, turn right onto East Schantz. Competitors should be dropped off near the southeast corner of the building (between OHS and Mack Hummon Stadium), where Oakwood students will guide competitors into the building through the Junior High entrance. After drop off, bus drivers should turn left onto Dellwood Avenue, drive one block, and, then, turn left onto Shafor Boulevard and park on Shafor.
JUDGES
Parent/community judges should turn off Far Hills and find on-street parking on side streets within walking distance of OHS. The best plan for most people is probably to turn east off Far Hills onto Greenmount Boulevard a block and a half south of OHS, drive one block, and, then, turn left onto East Schantz. There will be slanted, nose-in parking spaces on East Schantz in front of Mack Hummon Stadium across the street from OHS. If those spaces are full, judges should find the closest available on-street parking and walk to the southeast corner of the building to enter through the Junior High entrance where Oakwood students will guide them to the primary Judges Lounge.
Neither buses nor judges will be able to park immediately adjacent to OHS on the west side of East Schantz. Parking there is restricted and bus parking is reserved for the visiting team for girls basketball games scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday.
The junior high entrance referenced above for all buses, judges, competitors is an accessible entrance "at grade" and there are no stairs between that entrance and the students commons area at the tournament.
